It's a simple drive to Mergan Hotel. Korce is an easy hop on the modern highways from Tirana and the other major areas of the country. The trip from the capital city by rental car is about two and a half to three hours, with beautiful mountains on the way. The road into the city is good.
If you're relying on public transport, the intercity bus network in Albania is dependable and cheap. Buses and minibuses (furgons) regularly leave Tirana for the main terminal in Korce. From the bus station, our hotel is an inexpensive taxi drive away (or a half-decent walk, if you’re carrying light bags). Taxis are easy to come by and local fares are very cheap.
Getting around within walking distance of your hotel is actually easiest entirely on foot. The centre of Korce is small and largely closed to traffic, so unless your destination happens to be directly adjacent to available parking, a car will only be a pain in the ass as you get to know the area. Thankfully, with its flat conditions and smooth viewing cobblestone sidewalks, walking is a pleasure and you will find that most of the most delightful places are hidden away or located further out of sight than a vehicle would be able to take you.
If you decide to drive parking requires some forethought. The hotel is situated in a dense historic area with limited or restricted street parking. It’s best to reach out the hotel reception before your arrival so that they can guide you to nearby safe parking. Once parked, you can disregard your car for the duration of your stay since you will not need it to explore the city centre.
